McDonald’s Canada Freezes Some Prices For A Year

McDonald’s Canada (MCD) has announced that it is freezing the price of a small cup of coffee at $1 and the price of its McValue meals at $5 for at least one year.

The McValue meals have cost about $6 since they were introduced in Canada in 2024. A small cup of coffee at McDonald’s can cost as much as $1.50 in certain parts of the country.

The McValue meals typically include a Junior Chicken, McDouble, or snack wrap bundled with small fries and a drink.

A McValue breakfast meal includes a sausage McMuffin, breakfast burrito, bagel with cream cheese, or a sausage McGriddle paired with a small coffee and hash brown.

McDonald’s said it is freezing prices as Canadians deal with financial insecurity and dine out less often due to the expense. The company added that it is providing value to consumers.

McDonald’s isn’t alone in focusing on value and reducing prices to attract customers.

In recent months, Tim Hortons (QSR) and Wendy’s (WEN) have introduced meal deals in Canada to try and increase foot traffic at their restaurant locations.

MCD stock has gained 8% in the last 12 months to trade at $306.75 U.S. per share.
