American Airlines grounds all flights nationwide on 'technical issue'

Investing.com -- American Airlines shares dropped more than 3.8% premarket Tuesday after the  United States Federal Aviation Administration said the carrier has grounded all flights nationwide.

The stock is currently trading around the $16.60 per share mark.

American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) said in a statement: "Our teams are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we apologize to our customers for the inconvenience."

When reacting to a customer on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the airline replied that it is "currently experiencing a technical issue with all American Airlines flights." They added: "Your safety is our utmost priority, once this is rectified, we'll have you safely on your way to your destination."

In response to another customer, the airline replied: "An estimated timeframe has not been provided, but they're trying to fix it in the shortest possible time."
