TSX Composite climbs at market open; BoC lowers the interest rate

Investing.com - Canadian equities started mixed on Wednesday. The top gainers were Capped Consumer Staples, Capped Materials and Capped Financial indices. The top falling indices were Renewable Energy and Clean Technology, Capped Energy and Capped Consumer Discretionary.At the market open in Toronto, the TSX Composite Index climbed 0.35%. The TSX Venture and the TSX Smallcap were also up. The TSX Venture rose 0.38%, while the Smallcap was up by 0.15%.

Top Gainers:

  • Celestica Inc (TSX:CLS).: Climbed 6.17% or 8.39 points to 144.44.
  • Energy Fuels Inc (TSX:EFR): Rose 4.09% or 0.310 points to 7.890.
  • MAG Silver (TSX:MAG): Increased 3.98% or 0.84 points to 21.94.

Top Losers:

  • MDA Ltd (TSX:MDA): Fell 18.82% or 5.10 points to 22.00.
  • BRP Inc (TSX:DOO): Dropped 2.87% or 2.09 points to 70.64.
  • Aritzia (TSX:ATZ): Declined 2.04% or 1.48 points to 71.09.

In Commodities Trading:

  • April Brent Oil Contract dropped by 0.46% or 0.35 points to 76.14 a barrel.
  • Crude Oil for March delivery fell 0.40 points to 73.37 a barrel.
