Today’s Top and Bottom Stocks

The top stocks today include West Pharmaceutical Services (WST). Shares gained 15.4% on Thursday after posting Q3 results.

In the quarter, the drug company reported revenue of $746.9%, down by 0.1% Y/Y. However, it increased its full-year 2024 EPS guidance range to $6.55 - $6.75. It also hiked its dividend by 5.0% to $0.21 a share.

Molina Healthcare (MOH) gained 17.7% yesterday after posting Q3 results. Its premium revenue increased by 18% Y/Y to $9.69 billion, thanks to new contract wins, acquisitions, and growth in its markets. Investors may consider Centene (CNC), Elevance Health (ELV), Humana (HUM), and Cigna (CI) in this sector.

CVS Health (CVS) and UnitedHealth (UNH) are also stocks to consider.

Gold miner Newmont Mining (NEM) is today’s bottom performer. NEM stock dropped by 14.7% on Thursday despite posting net income up by nearly six-fold. It earned $0.80 a share or $922 million.

Teradyne (TER) risks falling further today, after dropping by 11%. The firm posted a 4.7% Y/Y rise in revenue, to $737 million.

Carrier Global (CARR) dropped by 8.82%. It reported Q3 earnings of $0.83 a share (non-GAAP) on revenue of $6 billion (+21% Y/Y). After these impressive results, value investors may consider CARR stock. The firm plans to build inventory this year. It needs this capacity to meet strong demand. In Q2, orders were around 100% and in Q3, it was 30%.
