In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index slid 4.31 points to 23,202.53.
In other markets
The CSI 300 in mainland China dipped 3.29 points, or 0.1%, to 3,884.39.
In Singapore, the Straits Times Index ditched 14.64 points, or 0.4%, to 3,954.21
In Taiwan, the Taiex index gained 18.05 points, or 0.1%, to 21,298.22
In Korea, the Kospi swooned 15.53 points, or 0.6%, to 2,505.86
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 inched higher 7.58 points, or 0.1%, to 12,320.19
In Australia, the ASX 200 edged higher 9.39 points, or 0.1%, to 7,934.55.
